About Our Imports

Heritage International, Ltd., offers two distinctive lines of gift items, including traditional wooden handcrafts from Russia and ceramic gift items from Uzbekistan.

Traditional Wooden Handcrafts from Russia

The traditional wooden handcrafts imported by Heritage International from Russia are produced by artisans who live in the Moscow region, including the Village of Bogorodskoye, located 45 miles northeast of Moscow. Bogorodskoye is the heart of this craft and has a three-hundred year tradition of producing wooden gift items, including animated wood carvings, figurines, ornaments, boxes, and nesting dolls. Each piece is uniquely marked and is a collectable in the truest sense of the word. Among the most beautiful of these pieces is the hand-carved and painted Santa, or Father Frost as he has been known in Russia. Please visit our online catalog to see the beautiful selection of Santas, angels, nativities, lacquer boxes, and nesting dolls we have to offer.

Ceramic Gift Items from Uzbekistan

These beautiful handcrafted ceramic items are produced in Uzbekistan by skilled Russian artists who have graduated from prestigious art schools such as Moscow State University and the Penkovo Art School. Original designs are inspired by the creative imagination of the artists themselves and many are based on traditional themes from Russian fairy tales and legends. Many pieces mirror popular Russian folk art styles including Zhostovo, Khokhloma, and Gzhel. The patented needle technique used in producing these items allows you to actually feel the details and patterns on the painted surface. While the ornaments are our most popular ceramics, we are also pleased to offer ceramic vases, boxes, and nutcracker whistles, which are all available in our online catalog.
